It’s possible to step out of the norm and still dive into your wedded winter wonderland!  Here are some hot tips on How to Have a Stylish Winter Wedding:

Color: Less is more when it comes to color. Silver, white and crystal make great accents and add an extra degree of magic and luxury to your day. Use a white velvet aisle runner trimmed with white satin ribbon, or decorate the altar with a crystal curtain backdrop adorned with hanging strands of elegant white orchids for the ceremony. If you're having the ceremony outside, have your guests add to the ambiance by offering clear umbrellas. Pops of red holly and cranberry make for a beautiful holiday flare as well.  

Invitations: A black-tie event is nicely conveyed by heavy card stock and a navy blue, chocolate-brown, or even eggplant font with hand calligraphy. For a fresh way to achieve a formal tone for your winter wedding, use thick, frosted card stock invitations in white or gold scripted ink. Send the the invites off in matching envelopes addressed in rich blue ink for the final regal look.

The Flowers: Fuller flowers, such as white hydrangeas and soft ranunculuses make a great bouquet and centerpiece. White boutonnieres are handsomely accented with greenery and ribbon alike. Feel free to embellish with crystals as well!  

Centerpieces: Bring the bold simplicity of the floral design to your centerpiece. Fill vases with birch or winter white branches at the center of each tables. Have your florist fill the vases with tall winter-white branches and hanging crystals to reflect the light from the tables. Surround the centerpieces with votives for the perfect glow.

The Cake: Play up the season with a white, vintage-style cake, dusted with edible silver powder. For accents, have your baker add a white sugar ribbon and crystal drops cascading down one side of the cake.

It’s Apple Season! Here are 3 Sweet Dessert Ideas That Will Blow Your Mind! Apple season marks fall in full swing. We all love the apple pies of late summer and early Autumn, but the truth is, there’s so much more to be done with the simple fruit and we don’t want you left in the dark! 3 Apple Dessert Ideas for Every Palate

Candied Apple Slices with Homemade Caramel Sauce
I love this one. Simply slice apples and toss in a bowl with cinnamon. Set out on a cookie sheet to bake until warmed. Serve into dishes and drizzle with caramel sauce, then sprinkle with powdered sugar. Feel free to make your own caramel sauce or buy. It’s all in the combining and presentation!

Apple Crumble in a Bowl
Chop about 4 apples up in small pieces and just like above, toss with cinnamon and set out on a cookie sheet to bake and warm. Put about 1 - 2 cups of rolled oats in a large bowl. Drizzle maple syrup and a little honey on the oats, sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on top and then toss and mix. Place them evenly on a separate cookie sheet and broil on high for about 10 minutes. In a saucepan, place 2 TBSP of butter and ½ cup of cream cheese. Melt and mix together. Once all ingredients are ready, layer oats, then apples, then sauce and repeat. It’s like an apple cobbler parfait!

Baked Apple Pizza
Saving a great one for last, is the apple pizza. First, prepare the dough for pizza as you would a regular pizza but par-bake it. (Bake it for ½ the time and then take it out.) For this next step, you’ll need a nog of some sort. (egg nog/rice nog/soy nog). Then, very thinly slice apples (even add pear if you’d like) and set to the side in a baking dish. Drizzle the nog over the sliced apples but don’t drown them. Use just enough to lightly marinate. Take your par-baked dough and spread a thin layer or olive or coconut oil on the pizza dough. Sprinkle cinnamon evenly on the oil. Then strain the nog from the pan and place the moist apples on the pizza. Put the pizza back in the oven to finish baking. For an added kick, add caramel on top and even make the butter/cream cheese sauce from above and drizzle on top of the pizza when serving!

Teal pumpkins are the talk of every town right now. Perhaps you’ve seen them around? These pumpkins were made with the children in mind. In modern times, parents are getting more and more careful about Halloween and the free treats being handed out to their children. Part of this is simple stranger safety and other reasons have to do with health choices.

More and more parents are turning to organic, natural, and treats with less sugar for their children and they are frustrated at the amount of unhealthy choices are being served to their kids.

Taking the situation further, parents are being met more these days with food allergies, where children are faced with mild to severe reactions to common candy ingredients such as wheat, peanut, milk and more. Children with these allergies are also frustrated because the festivities are not as fun to participate in, as they have to slim down their pickings so much, for their own safety.

But, enter the brilliant people with the teal pumpkins. Homes all over are joining the movement of painting pumpkins teal and placing them outside on their well lit porches. The Best Halloween Games for Home and School Parties!Every child has fun at halloween and school parties are definitely a highlight! So whether you are a parent or teacher, we want to make sure you’re ready with all the games and treats you need to have the best Halloween party yet! Let us at Ontario Bakery fill you in on our favorite Halloween games!

Pass the Pumpkin: Basically the same a ‘hot potato’. Have the children pass a small sized pumpkin.  Whoever has the pumpkin when the music stops gets to leave the circle and pick a prize out of a bag.  As the circle gets smaller the game gets faster and by the end everyone has a prize! Everyone wins!
Haunted Musical Statues: Play some music and get the kids to dance around like ghosts and witches.  When the music stops they need to freeze.  The ones who stop the quickest get a prize and then sits down as the game then continues.
Duck Duck Spook: A twist on an old favorite.  Kids sit in a circle and one walks around the outside tapping the others on the head one at a time and announcing “duck, duck, duck” as they do so.  Then, randomly, they say “SPOOK” as they tap a child’s head and when they do that kid must stand up and try to chase them around the circle (making ghost noises of course!).  If the original tapper gets back to their spot without being caught then the person that chased them becomes the new ghost.  If they do get caught then they have another turn going around.

Of course, you’ll want to encourage the children to arrive in costume. Each child will surely enjoy the surprise of each new costume and being able to try guessing what everyone is!

planning and details, we want to leave you with some helpful autumn decor and beauty tips, you won’t want to miss for the beautiful wedding you’re about to enjoy!

First of all, you want to make sure you mix bold Autumn colors with a contrast of natural textures to accent. Use rich chocolate browns, burgundy and burnt orange, with decor accents of burlap, velvet, and natural elements such as wood slices and blocks. Some ideas are to have your guest sign in list surrounded by leaves and bark paper or to arrange tea lights on little branch cuts on tables.

If you have the option to have the ceremony at sunset with the reception under the stars or basking in the moonlight, then please do it. For food, use spices like clove, cardamom and cinnamon. Make sure you add splashes of the seasonal harvest, like adding pumpkins and anise stars to the table. If you’re not wanting the orange of the pumpkin, get creative and paint them gold. Your guests and your eyes will be delighted for sure!

For the beauty side of things, steer away from just the basic browns and mauves - and add accents of gold or even copper to your eyes. Have fun with a nude lip or go rich with a smooth bordeaux color. Hair done up and out of the face will keep those colors rich without overwhelming the picture and still accenting your dress.
